Job description
We believe the world’s fastest driver hasn’t raced…yet.
FAT Karting League’s mission is to achieve mass participation in motorsport by radically reducing the barriers to entry.
We will run karting events across Indiana throughout the year to cater for drivers with different levels of experience, that creates a pathway from age 6-17.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working engineer - with a passion for motorsport - to join our engineering team.
The role will involve working in the workshop in Indianapolis during the week and travelling to different karting circuits around the Midwest at the weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and oversee maintenance protocols and service standards for our electric kart systems (mechanical, electrical, and software-integrated components)
Lead complex diagnostics and root cause analyses using data from telemetry, battery management systems, and diagnostic software
Collaborate with engineering leadership to design and improve kart hardware configurations and electrical systems for performance and safety
Evaluate and implement system upgrades, new tools, and process improvements across the service program
Act as a subject matter expert for event-based troubleshooting, providing real-time analysis and decision-making in high-pressure environments
Train and mentor junior technicians and service staff on advanced diagnostics, safety procedures, and technical best practices
Interpret engineering documentation and apply technical judgment to resolve field issues without direct supervision
Interface with suppliers, technical partners, and R&D to ensure alignment on specifications and ongoing innovation
Oversee fleet health tracking, maintenance scheduling, and long-term reliability analysis
Job requirements
You Are:
Passionate about motorsport and FKL’s mission.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
A strong team player with good communication skills.
Willing to work weekends and travel for events.
You Have:
Experience in kart maintenance, both mechanical and electrical.
Ability to resolve issues with battery packs
An electrical engineering background is preferred.
Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and networking issues.
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
A full driving license and your own transport.
